UNSW Academic and Faculty Boards Elections

Nominations for the election of academic staff members to the Academic Board and academic staff and student members to Faculty Boards will open on Wednesday 17 March 2021.

The Academic Board, as the principal academic body of the University has the following functions:

  • elects the President of the Academic Board;
  • oversees academic governance and maintenance of academic standards;
  • advises the Vice-Chancellor and Council on the conduct and standards of teaching, scholarship and research; and
  • liaises with the Faculties and makes recommendations to Council.

The Faculty Boards consider and provide advice to the Dean on academic matters in the Faculty. This includes oversight of review of proposals for the establishment and revision of courses and programs, and oversight of the quality of teaching and research.  The Faculty Boards also perform such functions as delegated to them by Council.

The term of office for academic staff to the Academic Board and Faculty Boards is two years, from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2023.

The term of office for students to the Faculty Boards is 18 months, from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2022.

Eligible staff and students will receive an email from BigPulse on Wednesday 17 March 2021 inviting nominations, which must be received by 4pm on Friday 26 March 2021.
