UNSW is seeking Expressions of Interest for the Higher Education Awards hosted by The Australian Financial Review.

Now in its fifth year, the prestigious awards recognise teaching and research excellence with an emphasis on student achievement and efficiency running universities.

The ten award categories are:

  • Community Engagement Award
  • Education Technology Award
  • Emerging Leader Award
  • Employability Award
  • Equity and Opportunity Award
  • Facilities Innovation Award
  • Industry Engagement Award
  • International Education Award
  • Learning Experience Award
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

Please read the guidelines and selection criteria for each award.

Why do I need to submit an Expression of Interest?

Only one entry is permitted for each category from the University. To determine the strongest entry, UNSW is undertaking an Expression of Interest process.

Those interested in nominating must complete the EOI form and return to Julia Jones at j.jones@unsw.edu.au no later than 5pm Monday 13 May.

An esteemed panel will assess all received forms on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, with successful candidates being advised by Tuesday 28 May. Candidates will then prepare a 500-word nomination, due to the Corporate Communications team by Monday 24 June.

In 2018, UNSW had a great result with eight entries and two finalists taking home awards, including the UNSW Hero Program in the Learning Experience category and the Faculty of Engineering’s The Maker Games in the Industry Engagement category. This year, we’re aiming for an entry in all ten categories.
