International Women’s Day reminds us to push for gender equity and create a better balance for a better world.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Tomorrow is International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrating the social, economic and political achievements of women through history around the world. This year’s theme, #BalanceForBetter, reminds us to push for gender equity and help create a better balance for a better world.
UNSW will host a special IWD breakfast event on Friday 8 March with guest speaker The Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor-Designate of New South Wales.
We have received an overwhelming response for the IWD breakfast event and unfortunately the event has sold out. We apologise for any disappointment this may have caused. The event will be streamed live from 8:30am on Friday 8 March. We invite you to watch this event via the Hospitality website.
As part of the celebrations this year, be sure to get involved in the faculty-led events taking place on campus for the next two weeks. There will be panel discussions with outstanding speakers, special seminars and art exhibitions to mention a few. Discover UNSW’s complete IWD events program via the UNSW IWD website.
Gender equity is important at UNSW to ensure women and men have equal opportunities to achieve their full potential in their work, study and life. Gender balance encourages diverse perspectives and thoughts, enriching our own experiences, and supporting a diverse and inclusive culture at UNSW.
Wishing you a very happy International Women’s Day!
Warm regards,
Professor Eileen Baldry
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Division of Equity Diversity & Inclusion
