Donate your clothes to Arc Career Closet

Arc UNSW is launching an exciting new Career Closet program to help students access professional clothing.

With the cost of living increasing, purchasing professional clothing can be an additional burden for students already balancing tuition fees, student loans, rent and everyday expenses.

The program’s objective is to help ease that burden by providing students with access to neat and little-used professional workplace attire.  Students will be able to borrow and select from a wide and inclusive range of clothing.

“Here in Arc Career Closet, our purpose is for the students,” said Mitchell McBurnie, Arc General Manager (Marketing, Strategy & Experience). “We want them to feel their best, look their best and be empowered for their future. Dressing students for success is our main goal and we want every student that uses our service to leave with their best version of themselves.” 

“Beyond just clothing, we want to create an experience for students to feel much more confident and make a strong impression when preparing for interviews, internships and career fairs. Each donated item contributes to a larger effort in ensuring that every student has the chance to pursue their dream career without being limited by financial constraints.”

How can you help?

To assist in launching this initiative, Arc needs your help.  

You’re invited to donate professional clothing that’s in good condition during the staff donation drive. These items will contribute enormously to building Career Closet’s pool of clothing.

What to donate:

• Professional clothing such as blazers, skirts, shirts, blouses, suits, jackets, dress pants, shoes, accessories (belts, ties, etc.). Patterned items are acceptable as long as they are subtle and appropriate for the workplace, but we do not accept graphic designs or clothing with slogans. Casual or informal wear such as jeans, khakis, jewelry or bags won’t be accepted.
• While all donations are highly appreciated, clothing must be clean and not have significant damage, such as holes, tears and stains.

When to donate:

• The staff donation drive will be held in weeks 6-7 (23 March - 5 April).
• You can drop off donations anytime during regular office hours.

How to donate:

• Drop your donations in the Arc boxes at:
  • Dean’s Unit – Level 6, UNSW Business School at the reception desk
  • Career Accelerator Office – Room 1028, Level 1, Quadrangle
  • Main Library, Level 2 (lift foyer area)
