In May, we hosted 25 graduation ceremonies and celebrated 5008 graduates.
On Monday 29 April, UNSW Sydney was delighted to kick-off our two-week May Graduation Festival, where we welcomed graduates back to campus to attend their graduation ceremonies.
This year, UNSW has introduced a range of enhancements to the festival. These included a reception on the Michael Birt Lawn, more visual displays to support photo opportunities and an inaugural graduation ceremony at the Roundhouse. The initiatives are part of our move to embrace and activate graduation celebrations across the whole campus.
Over the past fortnight, we’ve hosted 25 graduation ceremonies over two venues – the Clancy Auditorium and the Roundhouse. We’ve celebrated 5008 graduates, welcomed more than 15,000 family and friends, and awarded 6466 degrees. These graduates completed their degrees at UNSW between Term 3 2023 and Summer 2024.
“As we gather at the Clancy Auditorium and the Roundhouse to honour our graduating students and their families, our goal is simple: to fill every heart with pride and joy. These celebrations are brimming with excitement, creating a special atmosphere that we are grateful to share in,” said Edwin Leow, Head of Student Lifecycle.
As with any events of this scale, planning commences months in advance. Without dedicated staff from Division of Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement, Registrar & Student Services, Estate Management, Arc, and staff from the faculties and divisions who volunteer their time, we wouldn’t be able to offer these celebrations to our graduates and their family and friends. Thank you to everyone involved in making the May Graduation Festival a great success!
