The Cyber Security Resilience Program improves the University's resilience to the threats posed by cybercrime groups and nation-states.

Since its inception in 2022, the Cyber Security Resilience Program and the Cyber Security team more broadly have successfully implemented diverse technologies and operational capabilities to protect our information resources and respond to threats. They have introduced:

  • multi-factor authentication for all staff and students
  • endpoint detection and response to safeguard our computers and servers
  • a state-of-the-art hybrid Security Operations Centre (SOC) to monitor our systems and networks
  • a Cyber Security Policy Framework complete with new and refreshed policies and standards as well as the Cyber Security Risk Assessment (CSRA) process
  • a mandatory Cyber Security Awareness eLearning module (UCYBER) for staff to raise awareness of everyone’s responsibilities as per our policies and provide guidance on how to protect our digital information resources.

These enhancements and many others have supported the University in managing our cyber security risks during a period of increasing sophistication of cyber security threats.

With the completion of our resilience-focused initiatives, our Cyber Security Strategy will emphasise improvements to further mature and strengthen cyber security operational capability, focusing on improved controls governing access to our information and data. The Cyber Security Enablement Program will also work closely with key stakeholders such as Business Owners of information resources to remediate gaps identified in Cyber Security Compliance Reports.
