Faculty teams across UNSW are invited to apply for EDI Faculty Grants for 2024 projects.
The Division of Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) has expanded their faculty grant scheme, building on the success of EDI Faculty Grants earlier in 2023.
Grants between $10,000 and $20,000 are now available for initiatives that enhance opportunities for students from socio-economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, students with diverse gender identities, LGBTIQ+ students, students with disability, and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
About the grants
Successful projects will support:
- teaching and learning initiatives that intend to positively impact students’ university experience, engagement and success
- building student and staff capacity for promoting a respectful culture and practising inclusivity in their work, study and interactions
- existing programs/units of study as well as new projects/activities with potential for expansion and implementation across schools or faculties.
Who can apply?
Grants are available to combined teams of professional and academic staff from all UNSW faculties.
Past grant recipients
The Diversified project at UNSW is a 2023 grant recipient, enabling the team to develop a toolkit of inclusive teaching modules and resources. The project team envision the toolkit as a suite of materials designed and developed collaboratively by instructors and students to enhance understandings of neurodiversity and how it affects learning and teaching practice.
Professor Terry Cumming, from the School of Education and the Diversified project team, encourages other teams to apply for EDI Faculty Grants.
“It is a great opportunity to get involved in positively impacting the student experience, engagement and success of the diverse population of students attending UNSW,” she said.
“This funding allows teams to build on the University's research agenda in social inclusion, widening participation, and inclusive learning and teaching.”
