At UNSW Sydney, fostering an inclusive, diverse and supportive learning environment isn’t just an aspiration – it’s a commitment. The EDI Faculty Grants are back for 2025, offering between $10,000 and $20,000 to innovative projects that enhance opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. Whether you're an academic or professional staff member, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.

The EDI Faculty Grants support initiatives that:

• enhance students’ University experience, engagement and success

• build student and staff capacity to promote inclusivity and respectful culture

• expand existing programs or create new projects with potential for broader implementation.

Be inspired

In 2024, grant recipients launched transformative projects that have already started reshaping the UNSW student experience:

• ADA Stories: Reimagining Inclusion on Campus is empowering queer students through art, advocacy and design.

• ‘Everyone’s Business’: Building Capacity in Master of Public Health staff and graduates to enact First Nations' cultural safety in public health teaching, research and practice embedded First Nations cultural safety in core courses.

• First Nations Engineering Science Society is bridging culture and technology to foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture, culminating with boomerang-powered drones.

• Education Support to Make Students Shine expanded open labs and student drop-in centres to create equal opportunities in Electrical Engineering.

These projects show what’s possible when passion meets funding. At UNSW, we’re building an equitable, inclusive environment where all students thrive. These grants give professional and academic staff the chance to turn ideas into action – driving real change and shaping a stronger, more inclusive community.

How to apply

Follow these steps if your project supports socio-economically and educationally disadvantaged students, LGBTQIA+ students, students with disability, or students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds:

1. Review your eligibility and complete the application form: check out the guidelines and FAQs and apply using the application form on the EDI website.

2. Don’t miss the deadline: Applications close 5pm on Friday, 21 March 2025.
