Cookie Consent

Soon you’ll see cookie consent and preferences pop up on unsw.edu.au.

From Wednesday 2 April 2025, the UNSW website will require you to update your cookie preferences. Accepting cookies improves your browsing experience by allowing the website to remember your preferences, personalise content and ensure site functionality.

What is a ‘cookie’ and how do we use them?

A cookie is a small message given to your web browser by our web server. Your browser stores this message and sends it back to the UNSW website server each time you visit a UNSW website. They collect information about your browser’s internet provider (IP) address, the date and time of your visit, duration for each webpage, the pages you accessed, documents you downloaded and the type of browser you used.

The first piece of information your cookies will collect is your consent, allowing the University’s website browser to start storing or accessing cookies on your devices. This also means we’re compliant with updated privacy regulations and industry standards, both internationally and locally.

You have the right to manage or disable the acceptance of cookies by your web browser at any time. However, doing so may restrict your ability to access some web pages.

How UNSW uses cookies

The University uses cookies for:

  • essential functionality required for UNSW websites to operate correctly
  • enabling access to secure areas on UNSW websites and saving your preferences
  • analysing activity to continuously improve your experience
  • analysing the performance of the UNSW website
  • managing advertising through remarketing on other websites with Google Analytics and providing you with more targeted advertising based on the information you access.

For more information, visit the UNSW Privacy Statement.

If you experience any technical issues due to the introduction of cookie consent, please contact UNSW IT by raising a service ticket, visiting a Campus IT Hub, calling the IT Service Centre on 02 9385 1333, or sending an email.
