
This in-person conference will shine a light on the expertise and leadership of women in the fields of strategy, security and defence.
On Monday 7 April, Security & Defence PLus and UNSW Canberra will host the third instalment of The Athena Series: Women in Strategy Conference. Drawing from military, government, diplomatic and academic domains, the conference will explore topics such as inclusive leadership and the impact of gender on decision-making.
The event will also cover geopolitics and gender perspectives in the Indo-Pacific, inclusive military reform, and women's leadership in addressing the critical challenges of our time, including climate change and cybersecurity.
Speakers and experts include Lieutenant General Michelle McGuinness, Australia's National Cyber Security Coordinator, Ms Justine Greig, Deputy Secretary Defence People and Rear Admiral Letitia Van Stralen, Head of Military Personnel.
Alongside these industry leaders, Professor Emma Sparks, Rector, UNSW Canberra, Professor Verity Firth AM, Vice-President Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement, Professor Debi Ashenden, Director, Institute for Cyber Security and several more UNSW representatives will also participate in the discussions.
Security & Defence PLuS is the flagship program of PLuS Alliance, a global partnership which combines the strengths of three leading research universities on three continents – UNSW, King’s College London and Arizona State University (ASU) – to solve global challenges.
The invitation is open to all UNSW students and staff.
