The exercise will enhance our emergency preparedness and response capabilities on the Kensington campus.

On Wednesday 7 August between 8am and midday, UNSW will conduct a multi-agency emergency exercise on the Kensington campus involving NSW Emergency Services. This exercise will involve the University’s Critical Incident Team (CIT), NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW),

The field exercise will involve a full ‘boots on the ground’ response, with more than 50 people physically responding to an incident. It will have a significant visual impact on campus, including closing University Mall between Village Green and Eleonora Kopalinksy (Globe) Lawn.

The scenario will trigger a coordinated response involving the dispatch of UNSW’s Emergency Management Unit (EMU), CIT activation and the arrival of various emergency services. It will simulate real-time response activities, including search and rescue operations, medical aid and the establishment of command points.

Signage will be placed around campus to raise awareness of students, staff and visitors and building occupants will be alerted via PA announcements at the start and end of exercises.

Please follow directions of emergency services and security personnel during the exercise. If you wish to observe the activities, there will be designated viewing areas on the terrace of Robert Webster (G14) and the steps at the bottom of Eleonora Kopalinksy Lawn.

We thank you for your cooperation during this important exercise.
