Discover UNSW Western Sydney Connect events

Working with industry and local governments, monthly workshops, discussions or networking events are supporting UNSW students.

UNSW Western Sydney Connect: Growing Together offers a platform for collaboration, career development and knowledge sharing and, more importantly, an opportunity to grow together with the development in the region. 

Events are held on the third Friday of each month at the UNSW Parramatta Innovation Hub. Each session will feature: 

• workshops and thought leadership forums facilitated by UNSW experts and industry leaders to discuss key regional topics
• networking sessions which are opportunities for students, staff, industry representatives and community members to connect and collaborate
• showcase events which highlight the achievements and contributions of UNSW students, alumni and partners in Greater Western Sydney. 

The next event will be held on Friday 21 March. The AI Fluency and Integration Workshop is designed to help participants understand AI fundamentals and its practical applications for UNSW students, high school students and professionals. 

Launching the event series

Officially launched in February by the UNSW Business School, UNSW Western Sydney Connect: Growing Together aligns with the UNSW Strategy: Progress for All seventh Pillar (and second Impact Focus Area) to help advance economic and social prosperity.  

This includes expanding UNSW’s impact in Greater Sydney by building on community-focused engagements in the region.

Growing Together goal

UNSW Western Sydney Connect: Growing Together’s goal is to foster education, innovation and inclusive growth in Western Sydney. They’re implementing this in several ways, including:  

• future-ready skills and leadership development to help students and young professionals develop critical thinking and leadership skills
• community-centered approach, collaborating with local schools, career advisors and businesses to design programs that align with aspirations and needs for the Western Sydney community 
• impactful research that addresses key economic, social and business challenges in Western Sydney 
• industry integrated learning and mentorship, providing direct engagement with industry leaders, alumni and professionals who offer mentorship, internship opportunities and career guidance
• creating education pathways and accessibility, through scholarships, entry programs and tailored outreach initiatives.
