TRaCE is offering up to $14 million in funding and commercialisation support to UNSW researchers and their industry partners.
Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from UNSW researchers for funding to accelerate the commercialisation of recycling and clean energy technologies.
The TRaCE Lab to Market Fund offers grants and extensive commercialisation support to UNSW research teams with an identified industry partner for projects to co-design and deliver market-ready solutions.
A total of $14 million is available through the program. As a unique feature of the grant, up to 80% of the total industry contribution can take the form of eligible partner equipment purchased for the project and/or project staff salaries from partners.
Grant funds are leveraged against the total partner contribution (for example, cash, equipment and staff). This triples the total cash available for the research activity.
The program offers quick deployment of funds and access to TRaCE’s wide range of supporting initiatives, which include:
- a dedicated TRaCE R&D Project Manager to work alongside the research team and industry partner to help facilitate the project’s commercial pathway, identify opportunities to scale and help mitigate project risks
- funding for Industry PhDs to work on the project
- funding (salary coverage) for the research team to be seconded to work with the industry partner or vice versa, for industry staff to work with a research team
- research engineers or staff
- commercial advisers
- student placements (Work Integrated Learning) funded to work with industry partners
- facilitation of investor, customer or partner networks.
EOIs are currently open. Full applications must be submitted by Saturday 31 August 2024.
