The Protective Services Directorate oversees UNSW’s security operations and systems, parking, and emergency and critical incident management at UNSW.
UNSW’s Security & Traffic Directorate has changed its name to Protective Services to better reflect its core functions.
The Directorate is part of Estate Management with responsibility for security operations and systems, parking, and emergency and critical incident management across the University. Its business units and their main responsibilities remain unchanged and include:
- security patrols
- advice and support for personal safety and security matters
- control room monitoring, include SafeZone, CCTV and alarms
- incident response and trend analysis
- risk assessment and advice for events and VIP visits
- parking management
- operation of the Gate 2 security office, including issuing ID cards and managing lost property
- managing electronic security systems and access control permissions
- locksmith services
- developing and maintaining emergency and critical incident management plans and procedures
- emergency incident response.
