The annual Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship offers funding for research and innovation to advance Australia’s defence capability.

Applications are now open for the Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship. This annual fellowship offers grants of up to $60,000 for innovators and researchers who will make a significant contribution to the Australian defence research and prototyping landscape.

The fellowship is an initiative of the Spitfire Association and is administered through UNSW Canberra. It encourages the development of advanced knowledge and expertise to aid in the defence of Australia, offering recipients financial support as well as significant public recognition.

The proposed project should make an identifiable and measurable difference to the defence of Australia and focus on Australian sovereign capability and industry.

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to Australian citizens who have a strong proposal for innovation that can be applied in the military setting for the defence of Australia and that bring us a clear advantage in global conflicts.

Applicants must demonstrate an interest in advancing existing knowledge and expertise to improve the defence of Australia.

Applications close at 11pm on Sunday 13 October 2024.
