Future students and their families flocked to UNSW’s Open Day on Saturday 7 September to explore the vibrant Kensington and Paddington campuses.

At UNSW Open Day 2024, tens of thousands of prospective students and their families experienced firsthand UNSW’s diverse community, world-leading facilities, and the distinctive student life that sets UNSW apart.

More than 1,500 student ambassadors and staff welcomed students, opening the doors to our faculties to showcase the very best of what UNSW has to offer.

“Our commitment to supporting the dreams and ambitions of all our students was evident across all aspects of Open Day. From lectures to hands-on learning experiences, we showcased our innovative thinking and expertise, aiming to attract the brightest and most ambitious minds to our University,” said Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Attila Brungs.

“Choosing a university is an important decision for future students, and I was thrilled to see UNSW at its most welcoming and demonstrating our transformative approach to education.”

This year’s Open Day centred around Celebrating 75 years of Progress for All, bringing UNSW’s new ‘Progress for All’ brand campaign to life for a Gen-Z audience while commemorating UNSW’s 75-year anniversary. Underpinned by our world-leading research and teaching impact, this theme ran across all aspects of Open Day, including the promotional campaign, artificial intelligence (AI) event activation, a keynote lecture, and the breadth of faculty activities and talks.

To honour UNSW’s Gateway Admission Pathway Early Offer recipients, a special Gateway Brunch event was held in the Clancy Auditorium. Faculty and divisional leaders gathered to congratulate hundreds of students and their families, formally welcoming them to the UNSW community.

The day also featured more than 125 faculty and student life lectures, large-scale advisory zones, behind-the-scenes faculty tours, workshops, and vibrant student life experiences through Arc’s clubs and societies program.

“In addition to lectures, students engaged in behind-the-scenes tours, demonstrations and workshops, and connected with academic experts to have their questions answered,” said Professor Sarah Maddison, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience.

“Faculties and divisions play a crucial role in showcasing our student experience. These interactions provided a fantastic opportunity for UNSW to highlight our inclusive and dynamic learning community. I so grateful to all the current students and dedicated academics and staff who made Open Day a tremendous success.”

The enthusiastic participation and interest in this year’s Open Day signals a promising outlook for the University’s 2025 Term 1 intake, with significant interest from high school leavers as they prepare for their exams and finalise their future study plans.
