Find out how carbon emissions compare between faculties and divisions and the key emissions sources for your unit.
UNSW is committed to achieving ambitious carbon emission reduction targets to tackle climate change. Our current targets are:
- 30% emission reduction by 2025
- 50% emission reduction by 2030
- net zero emissions by 2050.
Over half of UNSW’s carbon emissions result from travel and the supply chain, and are therefore influenced by decisions made across the organisation.
To monitor our progress, we measure and report our carbon emissions annually, capturing everything from powering our campuses to air travel and supplier services. Now, we’re taking it one step further: our detailed emissions data is available to all UNSW staff through interactive Power BI dashboards.
What’s on the dashboards?
The dashboards show:
- UNSW’s total emissions from 2018 to 2023
- breakdowns of emissions by faculty and division in 2023
- detailed supply chain emission of each faculty and division in 2023
- detailed travel emission of each faculty and division in 2023.
Where can you access the dashboard?
Access the dashboards using your zID. Watch a recording to learn how to navigate them.
What can you do with the dashboards?
Understanding carbon emissions data empowers you and your team to contribute to UNSW’s net zero emission reduction targets while driving innovation and efficiency across our operations.
Use the dashboards to:
- pinpoint activities in your faculty or division with the highest emissions
- explore ways to address key sources of emissions with your team, faculty or division
- consider how you could reduce emissions from key sources by avoiding duplication, sharing existing resources within UNSW and selecting suppliers with certified sustainability credentials
- rethink travel habits and find ways to achieve your goals while reducing air travel.
