A reminder that UNSW is a smoke and vape-free environment

UNSW smoke-free

If you’re a smoker, please be mindful of students and staff when smoking around a campus perimeter.

UNSW’s Smoke-Free Environment Policy applies to all our campuses and residential accommodation, to students, staff and visitors. The Policy applies to cigarettes, vapes, cigars and water pipe tobacco smoking.

While the University recognises that students and staff have a right to choose whether to smoke or vape, we also recognise that non-smoking students and staff have a right to work and study in an environment that isn’t polluted by tobacco smoke or vape clouds. If you’re a smoker, please be mindful of students and staff around the University’s perimeter, as passive smoking can be unpleasant and harmful to others.

In addition to not smoking or vaping on campus, we can collectively help keep UNSW smoke-free by:

  • informing visitors of our smoke-free policy
  • reminding smokers that UNSW is smoke-free and directing them to smoke and vape off campus.

UNSW is committed to protecting our students, staff and visitors from all hazards, including second-hand smoke. If you or someone you know is thinking about quitting, you can chat with your local doctor, visit UNSW Health Service, or call Quitline at 13 7848 (13 QUIT) for support.
