Students, staff and alumni had the opportunity to review and contribute to the ideas shaping UNSW’s direction during the recent Strategy Expo.
More than 4750 people shared their feedback on the UNSW Strategy over four days at the Strategy Expo, from 21 to 24 October.
Participants engaged in design-thinking workshops, panel discussions and a Talk Series, with activations held across our campuses in Sydney, Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Port Macquarie.
Survey responses revealed strong support for UNSW’s commitment to making a positive societal impact, with 76% of respondents in agreement. The pathway to achieving these impacts is outlined in the Societal Impact Framework, developed this year and set to be launched publicly in 2025.
There was widespread enthusiasm for the impact focus areas and the initiatives that will drive them forward. The Strategy Project team appreciate the constructive feedback received and will incorporate this into the final paper. Each of the four nominated focus areas received strong and equal support from the survey and from in-person voting, and there was an overall sense of excitement about UNSW’s vision for our 100th anniversary.
Respondents were particularly supportive of our goal to ‘Empower current and future generations’. They endorsed our objective to equip students with the foundations to achieve their career goals and make the impact they desire.
There was also strong support for building a diverse, connected community that fosters an outstanding student experience and for creating moments that matter.
From the impact pathway ‘Lead knowledge creation, innovation, and translation’, respondents expressed strong support for our commitment to enhancing our research capacity and capability to ensure a strong culture that fosters research excellence.
Thank you to everyone who participated and provided feedback. The team is excited to continue shaping our strategy and look forward to launching the final version by the end of the year, ahead of the official rollout in 2025.
