Hear from colleagues and learn about how they get the most of out the survey.
The Term 3 2024 myExperience survey opened last week, so UNSW Sydney students can now share feedback on their course engagement throughout the term, until submissions close Thursday 21 November.
Optimising your survey responses
Discover strategies on boosting your student response rates, learn more about the comment review process and join in on an end-of-session debrief in a series of peer-led sessions.
A series of recordings from sessions which ran earlier this year are available to teaching staff again in Term 3:
- Increasing myExperience response rates with the BOOST Strategy, Associate Professor Kevin Liu: view recording and slides.
- myExperience comment review process and the feedback resilience project, Dr Nicole Saintilan and Paul Keitley: view recording and slides.
Staff can also access support for how best to read and navigate varied student feedback in the How to read student feedback SharePoint. This resource includes helpful tips, techniques and videos for interpreting feedback featuring staff experiences.
Conducting the survey with your students
To encourage participation, we recommend setting aside a few minutes of class time, ideally during a high-attendance session. Classes that allocate time for the survey tend to see higher response rates and gain a more accurate picture of student perspectives.
To assist this process, download some resources, including a guide for providing feedback to display in class. When talking to your students, we suggest the following approach:
- Highlight the importance of honest, constructive feedback and explain that myExperience data helps shape course improvements.
- Emphasise that their feedback benefits future students by contributing to meaningful course enhancements.
- If possible, share specific examples of how you’ve modified your courses based on previous feedback.
A High TEAch debrief
Later this year, teaching staff are invited to join a High TEAch debrief with colleagues. Share collective wisdom in an informal setting and have those impromptu ‘corridor’ conversations on the term’s triumphs, challenges and insights.
It’s hosted by Jacque North and Daniela Castro De Jong in person on Wednesday 11 December, 10-11am, at the Teaching Commons. Discuss the balance of flavours from student feedback and ways to improve your course when it's next served.
