Two academics have been recognised for their outstanding supervision and leadership in training HDR candidates.
The competitive UNSW Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Higher Degree Research (HDR) recognise sustained excellence in the supervision, mentoring and training of HDR candidates. They also highlight outstanding leadership in research training. In 2024, two UNSW academics have received the award.
Dr Astrid Lorange (Arts, Design & Architecture) received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Higher Degree Research Supervision for her exceptional track record in supervision and outstanding engagement in high-quality supervisory practice and supervision leadership.
Associate Professor Ailar Hajimohammadi (Engineering) was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Promoting Industry Engagement in Higher Degree Research for initiating and supporting innovative and transformational engagement between HDR candidates and industry partners.
“These awards recognise the outstanding contributions of our academics who are supporting UNSW’s HDR candidates,” said Professor Jonathan Morris, Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Training and Dean of Graduate Research.
“This year’s award winners both demonstrate the highest level of HDR supervision and leadership, and I am thrilled to celebrate their outstanding achievement.”
The winners will be formally recognised at the UNSW Education Festival Awards on 27 November.
