UNSW graduates are reporting greater satisfaction with their courses and are leading salaries in the QILT 2023 Graduate Outcomes Surveys.

UNSW graduates have continued to lead in employment outcomes for Australian university graduates in the 2023 Graduate Outcomes Survey – Longitudinal (GOS-L).

UNSW domestic undergraduates and postgraduates both reported the highest median salaries in Australia three years after graduation. The University also led the Group of Eight (Go8) in key areas in both the GOS-L and Graduate Outcome Survey, which focuses on recent graduates.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Quality) Professor Merlin Crossley said the positive results were one of many reason students choose to study at UNSW.

“These results are worth celebrating, and they reinforce the high value employers place on a degree from UNSW. They reflect the hard work, focus and culture at the University,” he said.

Domestic undergraduate results

UNSW undergraduates reported the top median salary nationally three years after graduation ($92,000 compared to $83,500 nationally and $86,000 across the Go8).

UNSW also led the the Group of Eight for median salary four to six months after graduation ($75,000 compared to $71,000 nationally and $70,000 for Go8) for the eighth consecutive year.

The University was second in the Go8 for full-time employment, at 81.3 per cent (compared to the national average of 79.4 per cent) four to six months after graduation. UNSW was second in the Go8 for full-time employment three years after graduation (94.9 per cent compared with 91.9 per cent nationally and 93.1 per cent for the Go8).

Domestic postgraduate results

UNSW was the top university nationally for the sixth consecutive year for postgraduates’ median salary four to six months after graduation ($120,000 compared with $97,500 nationally and $90,000 across the Go8). The University also led nationally for the fifth consecutive year for median postgraduate salary three years after graduation ($138,000 compared with the $108,500 nationally and $108,500 across the Go8).

UNSW postgraduates led the Go8 for full-time employment four to six months after graduation (91.7 per cent compared with 90 per cent nationally and 88 per cent across the Go8).

The survey findings reinforce UNSW’s recent Good Universities Guide 2023/24 five-star rating for both undergraduate and postgraduate salaries.

“It is a wonderful result and a testament to the dedication of our students and staff, and our networks,” Prof. Crossley said.

“As well as our academics, I want to recognise our professional and support staff, who do so much for our students’ career skills, connecting them with employers and helping them in their transition into their working lives.”
