Take a moment to “talk about it” this October as we celebrate Mental Health Month.
UNSW encourages you to pause and reflect on your mental health and wellbeing this October.
This year’s Mental Health Month theme Let’s Talk About It prompts us to have open conversations about mental health so we can empower ourselves and others to meaningfully promote understanding and share support.
This month, do something for yourself, including spending time with loved ones, participating in a fun hobby, making time for regular exercise and movement, or taking a moment for self-care. These can all play a role in keeping you mentally healthy.
October is also Health, Safety and Wellbeing Month at UNSW, with a range of events, webinars and morning teas on offer for all staff throughout the month.

Did you know that colouring can help with stress and anxiety? Take a mindful moment and add to a giant colouring project throughout October. Live drawing by UNSW alumna Georgia Norton Lodge will be held on Wednesday 2 October. From 3 October, all are invited to add a sprinkle of colour to the artwork before it’s displayed on campus from November.

Support is available
Our mental health is a part of what makes us who we are. Conversations about mental health can sometimes be difficult, but support is available for students and staff.
UNSW staff members and their immediate family can access our EAP provider Converge International for confidential counselling and wellbeing services at any time.
Students can access support through the Psychology and Wellness counselling service.
Mental Health Month is coordinated by the UNSW Health Promotion Unit in partnership with students and staff across UNSW. We aim to encourage the UNSW community to build health literacy, capacity skills and lifelong positive changes that will improve their overall health and wellbeing beyond their time at UNSW.
